18-year-old arrested after high-speed pursuit, crash in Wisconsin

BARABOO, Wis. (WFRV) – An 18-year-old Wisconsin man was taken into custody for several felony offenses after leading police on a high-speed chase while allegedly intoxicated on Saturday.

Deputies with the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office say that shortly before 7:15 p.m., a deputy observed a sedan driving south on U.S. Highway 12, weaving in and out of traffic at an extremely high rate of speed.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Isaiah Vetor of Adams, but Vetor fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit with speeds reaching over 120 mph.

Vetor exited U.S. Highway 12 onto County Road W, continuing west with speeds estimated at around 90 mph.

The release says Vetor reportedly lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of County Road W and Lover’s Lane, veering off the road and hitting several trees, causing heavy damage.

Two passengers in the car fled the scene on foot and were later found at a nearby residence with injuries from the crash. Vetor also fled on foot and was located at a residence on Hatchery Road.

Vetor was arrested and is facing charges, including two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, two counts of felony bail jumping, OWI causing injury, failure to keep vehicle under control, operating while suspended, possession of open intoxicants in a vehicle (driver), reckless driving – endanger safety, unreasonable and imprudent speed, and vehicle operator fleeing/evading an officer. The charges are being referred to the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.
