Dryer fire inside Wisconsin apartment, no one hurt

OAK CREEK, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities say no one was hurt after a Sunday afternoon fire in Wisconsin was contained to just the clothes dryer of a single apartment.

According to a release from the Oak Creek Fire Department, crews responded at 2:15 p.m. for reports of black smoke coming from a multifamily apartment building on 275 West Sunnyview Drive.

Officials on the scene say they arrived to black smoke coming from one of the apartments and launched an offensive fire attack, extinguishing the fire within five minutes of arrival.

The fire was said to be contained to just a clothes dryer inside one apartment, with no one getting hurt or any other apartments being damaged.

While the cause of the fire is under investigation, Firefighters say to clean out dryer lint screens after every load of laundry and to make sure routine maintenance is done on dryer exhaust vent pipes to avoid the buildup of lint and debris.
