GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Resurrection Food Pantry of Green Bay has served the community for over 40 years, and the facility kicked off 2025 with a huge boom.
The pantry served 321 households in January with free and healthy food, which adds up to roughly 900 people. Resurrection Food Pantry of Green Bay manager Larry Peterson said the pantry gets at least 2,000 to 3,000 pounds of food weekly.

“We’re doing fairly well right now,” Peterson said. “We handled 270,000 pounds of food last year.”
This is a Hunger Task Force-affiliated pantry, where respect and dignity are as important as ensuring people are well-fed.
Peterson emphasized that the pantry treats visitors like friends, sometimes just through the simple act of listening to them. Peterson added that his favorite part is helping volunteers and clients connect.
The pantry is open on the fourth and fifth Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and clients can pick up food once a month. The pantry also has morning hours from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the first, second and third Thursdays of the month.
Peterson says he is grateful for the community support, but the pantry could always use some more.
“When I started helping at this pantry, we tried to do it all ourselves from our church. We have a small congregation. We couldn’t keep up with demand. I went to four other churches in the area, and three of them said they’ll help support this. It’s just a wonderful partnership.”
