Gun shots inside a Grand Chute home leads to standoff with police and an eventual arrest

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Grand Chute say reports of shots fired inside a home led to a long negotiation with police Tuesday night that eventually ended in an arrest.

According to a release from the Grand Chute Police Department, officers responded at 7:24 p.m. to the 600 block of South Mayflower Drive after a caller reported shots being fired inside a home.

Once on the scene, officials say they were able to make contact with the caller who managed to exit the home on their own, leaving the one who allegedly fired the gunshots inside.

Additional officers were called to the scene and assisted with setting up a perimeter around the home and closing the roads in the nearby area.

Police say dispatchers with Outagamie County negotiated with the person inside the home for several hours before officers eventually made contact with the person and took them into custody without any additional issues at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The Grand Chute Police Department states that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

At this time no additional information is available and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
