Peshtigo School District collects 857 pounds of pop tabs in honor of cancer-free students

PESHTIGO, Wis. (WFRV) – The Peshtigo School District in Marinette County recently wrapped up a heartwarming pop tab competition to honor two students who were recently declared cancer-free.

The district’s final weigh-in brought families, students, and staff together to celebrate the success of the initiative.

What started as a friendly competition between grade levels turned into a significant fundraising and awareness effort for The Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee.

Prior to the holidays, the district’s informal weigh-ins revealed 466 pounds of collected pop tabs. By the final tally, the students surpassed expectations, collecting a remarkable 857 pounds of tabs.

The community-driven effort not only fostered camaraderie but also helped raise funds for families relying on support from The Ronald McDonald House during challenging times.
