28.5 mile, high-speed police pursuit ends in Fond du Lac County, driver arrested

(WFRV) – Authorities say one man was arrested on Saturday Night following a pursuit reaching speeds of over 130 miles per hour that came to an end in Fond du Lac County.

According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy engaged in a high-speed pursuit going north on US Highway 51 near East Salem Road in Calamus after observing a white BMW commit a speed violation.

Officials say the pursuit saw the BMW reach speeds of over 130 miles per hour and continued for 28.5 miles into Fond du Lac County.

Several vehicles were reportedly almost struck by the speeding vehicle and it continued to flee even after a successful deployment of a tire deflation device.

After continuing onto State Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County, officials say a trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol joined the pursuit and was able to successfully stop the vehicle with a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Gregory Pauly from Middleton, was then arrested for Fleeing/Eluding an Officer and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
