Wisconsin man escapes with minor injuries after scary rollover crash on State Highway 56

VIROQUA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 56-year-old Wisconsin man escaped with only minor injuries after a scary rollover crash into a ditch on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the town of Viroqua at around 2:30 p.m. on April 30.

A preliminary investigation reveals that 56-year-old Erica D. Gylund of Bangor was driving on State Highway 56 west of Cook Hill Road in Viroqua when he ran off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve to the left.

The vehicle traveled into a ditch, hit a tree, and overturned. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says that Gylund was wearing a seatbelt during the crash, and the airbags deployed successfully, aiding him in only suffering minor injuries. Gylund declined medical treatment at the scene.

Both lanes of traffic were shut down for around 15 minutes while first responders were on the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
