HARTFORD, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin man who was arrested in September after a traffic stop stemming from defective registration lamps led to the seizure of cocaine is now sentenced to a year in prison.
According to the Hartford Police Department, the traffic stop occurred on September 24 after Officer Chojnacki stopped a vehicle on State Highway 83 near Clover Road with defective registration lamps. The registered owner also had a suspended license.
Officers noticed in plain sight that the car contained a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine and subsequently removed the driver, 42-year-old Douglas Bannister of Merrill. Bannister admitted that he also had a THC pen on him.
While searching Bannister, officers found a bag with roughly 86 grams of cocaine on him, and a vehicle search followed shortly after, which unveiled multiple other items relating to the drugs, including cash and clean urine samples.
